Work

Since becoming Member of Parliament for Lewes in 1997, I have tried to work tirelessly for my constituents.  I believe that a central role for an MP is to help constituents however possible and try to unblock any log jams that they may encounter or expose any unfair treatment that they may encounter.  My inbox is vast and varied.  I receive up to 200 emails or letters from constituents every week which range from benefit cases to potholes, and from immigration to planning.  There is really no topic that is to large or small and that is why I have a five strong casework team to ensure that all the correspondence I receive are answered.  I personally oversee every piece of casework that is sent to me.

I also believe that it is very important to remain accessible.  I entirely recognise that for whatever reason some constituents would prefer to dicuss their cases face-to-face and for that reason, I hold weekly surgeries throughout the constituency.  For more information, please check out the surgeries section of my website.
