I understand and indeed share many ofthe concerns about fracking. I do also accept however, that as well as renewables, the use of gas, including shale gas, is likely to play a role in our energy mix over the coming decades. Issues – Balcombe
In terms of climate change, I am reluctant to see Britain extend our reliance on fossil fuels any more than necessary, particularly without carbon capture and storage. In this respect, I would not therefore welcome any exploitation of shale gas unless it replaced other carbon sources of fuel and represented a reduction in greenhouse gases (including methane)… (continue reading)
